This project is designed for Tmall International Double Eleven event pop-up store. Seeding grass (Zhongcao) is an Internet buzzword that recommends a certain product. Starting from the concept of “seeding grass”, the concept of lawn is extracted. “Lawn (Caoping) ” is homophonic to “praise (Haoping) ” in Mandarin Chinese, so “seed a grass and reap a good lawn” became the basis of the design.

In this project, I am mainly responsible for parts from the idea to the refinement before implementation, including creative ideas, design refinement, spatial design, illustrating and modelling.

The spatial form is separated from the natural form of the site itself and the common object forms in daily life. The spatial form is extracted from the life scene with an alienated scene, making the core main scene a non-daily and surreal experience space. The unit elements of the design are extracted symbolically, and the synonymous elements are reorganized in various ways by unifying the extracted unit’s “seeding land” intention, and the same unit is engraved in the impression of the site in the form of an ideological stamp.

The intention of “planting grass”, is connected with Tmall Global’s intention of introducing good things from abroad. It spreads a good lawn with “seeding land” and introduces the good things from the external “world courtyard” into it. “land” and “courtyard” is integrated under the connection of “a small grass”. Through alienated spatial forms symbolic design units, and changes in materials, we create a labyrinth-like and diverse experience in the site, as if we are in a dense forest, with unlimited fun of exploring and planting grass.
